Amy Winehouse Dead: Parents Thank Fans at House Memorial

The parents of Amy Winehouse have visited the 27-year-old’s north London home and have thanked fans gathered at a makeshift memorial.

Winehouse’s father Mitch had quickly flown back from New York where he was scheduled to take part in a music tour. As media representatives followed him around, he slowly read some of the messages of condolence left outside his daughter’s home.

He addressed the fans briefly saying, “Thank you for coming. It means so much to me and my family.”

A post-mortem has been scheduled for Monday, which it is hoped will provide more details into the cause of death, which at the moment police have described as simply “unexplained.”

Reports emerged over the weekend from friends and some witnesses that Winehouse had bought a cocktail of drugs, and had been heavily drinking in the hours before her death. The “Back to Black” singer was found dead in her bed on Saturday afternoon. According to Reuters she had been on the phone to her management team just six hours prior to being found dead.

Meanwhile, British newspaper the Daily Telegraph reported Monday that a new album could be released in the coming months using material recorded by the singer before her death. If true, that album would heavily be expected to reach number 1 in the sales charts. The Daily Telegraph article referred to sources saying that Winehouse had a “lot of material” that had not been released publicly, but that her parents would have the ultimate authority on whether a release would be forthcoming.
