Rain in the Phoenix area will likely keep temperatures below the triple digits

Early morning showers in the Phoenix area will likely keep temperatures below the triple digits Monday, officials said.

Storms that began between 2 a.m. and 3 a.m. Monday will likely continue throughout the day and night, pulling Monday's high down to an expected 96 degrees and low to 83 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.

Those temperatures mean the Phoenix area is expected to be cooler than Dallas and St. Louis on Monday.

Temperatures should bounce back into the triple-digits Tuesday with an expected 103-degree high and sunny skies for the All-Star Game.

Rainfall in the last 24 hours varied significantly throughout the Valley with 0.98 inches falling southeast of Paradise Valley and only .04 inches falling in northern Phoenix, according to the Flood Control District of Maricopa County.

Tempe, Mesa and Gilbert had areas with as little as .08 inches and as much as .55 inches of rain. Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport reported .43 inches of rainfall.
